DLSA Patiala provides legal aid to 333 beneficiaries

PATIALA: District Legal Services Authority, Patiala provided legal aid to 333 beneficiaries during the period from October 2020 to June 2021. Likewise, three national Lok Adalats were held during this period and in these national Lok Adalats , 4665 cases were settled and prices of Rs. 1006711597 / – were passed.
Disclosing the above details, while reviewing the progress of the District Legal Services Authority, District and Sessions Judge and President, Rajinder Aggarwal, said that with the efforts of the DLSA, 13 victims received compensation of Rs 34, 60, 793 as compensation for victims. scheme in addition to having approved 26 pension cases (12 old-age pensions, 09 widow’s pension cases and 05 under financial assistance for dependent children) from the departments concerned.
He further stated that in accordance with the instructions of Judge Ajay Tiwari, Judge Punjab & Haryana High Court-cum-executive chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, District Legal Services Authority Patiala will conduct the next National Lol Adalat on September 11, 2021. He also said that in the next national Lok Adalat, criminal cases, cases under article 138 of NI law, money recovery cases, MACT cases, cases labor and employment dispute, electricity, water bills and other bill payment cases (excluding non-collectable), Matrimonial dispute (except divorce), Land acquisition cases (pending in civil courts), service matters relating to remunerations and indemnities and reconsideration indemnities;, Tax and other civil matters and pre-litigation matters will be dealt with for amicable settlement in be the parties.
During the meeting, the issue of the implementation of the plea bargaining system was also discussed and it was decided that first the data relating to the cases falling under the plea bargaining system would be collected and, after identification of the case, a new course of action would be adopted. In addition, Ms Harkamal Kaur, SP (D), Patiala was invited to implement the directive contained in letter 3780 of 05.07.2021 to provide legal aid to the suspect / person arrested at the pre-trial stage. -arrest, arrest and pre-trial detention.
