Event: Passages – DiscoverHumboldt.com – Local news, weather, sports, classifieds and jobs for Humboldt, SK and Central Saskatchewan.

The Humboldt & District Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Passages by Paula Cooley and Louisa Ferguson on June 30, 2022.

The exhibition features sculptures in mixed media using glass, ceramics, metal and wood. This mixed media exhibit grew out of a CARFAC mentorship between Cooley and Ferguson in 2015-16. As part of the mentorship, they combined their respective mediums of clay and glass to create several collaborative pieces.

The resulting ceramic and glass sculptures honed their desire to continue to create and exhibit together, giving impetus to the new work featured in this exhibition.

Cooley and Ferguson used the iconic form of the boat as a starting point for all their works, which allowed them to explore various interests such as the formal qualities of light, shadow and negative space or the metaphorical journeys through life and time. A third of the show is collaborative, a third is directed by Cooley and a third by Ferguson.

The Gallery is organizing a vernissage to meet the artists and discover their works on Saturday July 9 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Passages will be on display until September 9, 2022.

Visit the gallery from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
