Galgotias University Faculty of Law, in conjunction with the Universal Institute of Legal Studies & Law Curators, inaugurated the prestigious “Advanced Legal Service and Professional Defense Course” on January 10, 2022. This course is tutored by Justice JR Midha (retired) who joined the University as an advisor and professor emeritus. Justice Midha has a vision to reform legal education and this is a step towards that initiative.
The inauguration ceremony began with a welcome note and a visionary speech by Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Galgotias University. She appreciated the efforts of the Law School and the mentorship of Justice JR Midha (retired) in making this innovative value-added course a reality. She further shared that Galgotias University, with its focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, is one of the few universities in the country that works on the philosophy of the student first. She then explained how value-added courses can improve the skills of our students in accordance with the national education policy.
Justice Midha, in his speech, shared his vision for legal education reform. He shared his experience as a judge of the Delhi High Court and encouraged students to develop their advocacy skills by developing communication skills and logical/legal reasoning. He emphasized the importance of rational thinking in developing professional advocacy. He appreciated the management of Galgotias University for providing this value-added course for free to the students.
This was followed by an address by Dr. Manish Arora, Director of Universal Publications and MSP Jain, Founder of Law Curators. Dr. Manish Arora briefed the students on the whole judicial office competition process and emphasized the need to be updated on recent case law. MSP Jain, Founder of Law Curators, spoke to the students about the importance of hard work, dedication and perseverance to prepare for prestigious service. Ms. Aradhana Galgotia, Director (Operations), shares the vision of the law school management and assures that the management will provide all necessary support to the law school in its endeavours. The ceremony ended with an address and vote of thanks from Dr. Namita Singh Malik, Dean and Professor at Galgotias University Faculty of Law.
