Legal awareness program on women’s legal rights organized in Budgam – India Education | Latest Education News | World Education News

BUDGAM: The District Level Center for Women Mahila Shakti Kendra Budgam in conjunction with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam conducted a legal awareness program today on women’s legal rights at the Juvenile Justice Board Lobby here.

DLSA Secretary Fozia Paul emphasized the role of women and spoke about women’s legal rights, the role of paralegal volunteers, legal aid clinics, services available to women in DLSAs in J&K UT and other parts of the country.

The District Social Welfare Officer, Dr Syed Farhana Asgar stressed that women need to have confidence in themselves to empower themselves as they are the ones who shape society.

During the program, District Coordinator, Asifa Manzoor, shed light on women’s empowerment and ways and methods that have been adopted time and time again by central and state/UT governments.

LCPO attorney Mehvish Tabassum and resource person highlighted women’s legal rights, prevention and elimination of violence against women.

The program was concluded after Women’s Welfare Officer Afroza Bhat highlighted the services provided by WHL 181 and Sakhi One Stop Center Budgam. The achievements of DLCW-MSK over the past year, the means and means adopted by DLCW-MSK to help women in distress, victims of domestic violence, harassment at home and at work.

Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of the only women/children shelter in Budgam district.

The program brought together female leaders from the Main Office of Education in Budgam, local women from the area and leaders from ICDS, NRLM-UMEED Budgam.
