As a preparatory measure for the upcoming National Lok Adalat, an interactive meeting has been organized by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in relation to the first National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 to be held on March 12, 2022.
The meeting was chaired by Justice Lanusungkum Jamir, Judge, Manipur High Court and Executive Chairman, MASLSA, in the presence of Ojesh Mutum, Member Secretary, MASLSA and Sadananda Sorokhaibam, Additional Member Secretary, MASLSA, along with Chairpersons and Secretaries of all district legal counsel. Service Authorities (DLSA), said a press release from MASLSA.
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is committed to providing prompt and inexpensive justice to citizens. Recently, he decided to place more emphasis on National Lok Adalat’s contribution to effectively reducing the backlog of pending cases through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
To achieve this goal, legal service authorities have turned to aggressive preparedness strategies for organizing Lok Adalats. As a preparatory measure, NALSA has started to hold prior consultation and review meetings with all state legal department authorities to guide them towards maximum elimination during these Lok Adalats.
The said National Lok Adalat will be conducted in offline mode for ongoing court cases. For banking, telephone and other pre-litigation questions, it will be conducted online by videoconference.
It should be noted that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conventional physical Lok Adalats has now shifted to online Lok Adalats where it will take place in virtual mode using simple video conferencing applications, the press release adds.
