The Legal 500 – a prestigious industry guide recognizing the country’s top professionals – has listed a wide range of lawyers from Aaron and Partners, strengthening the firm’s position as one of the best in the region.

Seventeen practice areas were also ranked among the best, with the first level of Level 1 being maintained by the Corporate and Commercial Law, Commercial Dispute Resolution, and Agriculture and Estates teams.

The 38 lawyers, spread across offices in Shrewsbury, Chester and Manchester, received a combined total of 55 individual rankings in different categories, a 25% increase from the previous year’s lists.

Three of the firm’s partners – Stuart Scott-Goldstone, corporate and commercial partner; David Harries, responsible for planning, energy, environment and regulation; and John Devoy, Dispute Resolution Partner, all retained their places on the prestigious Legal 500 Top Person List.

The next generation partner list included four attorneys from Aaron & Partners, with employment law partner Ben Mason making the list as a new participant this year. Corporate and commercial partner, Jamie Hawley; Planning, Environment, Energy and Regulatory Partner, Keith McKinney; and David Mann, Dispute Resolution Partner, all retained their places from 2020.

Family law partner Simon Mawdsley and employment lawyer Debbie Coyne also retained their positions on the Rising Stars list. They were joined by Vlad Macdonald-Munteanu, a senior partner responsible for disputed wills, trusts and estates, who was on the list for the very first time.

Nick Clarke, Senior Partner at Aaron & Partners, said: “Each year we look forward to the release of the Legal 500 ranking as it provides our clients with valuable insight into the best lawyers in the region and we are always confident that our people and teams will be well ranked. They also provide us with a useful benchmark to see how we rank against the largest companies in the region.

“Once again our teams have performed incredibly well and we are delighted to have seen a significant increase in individual rankings. Getting nine more rankings in addition to our 2020 results underscores just how exceptional we have talent in the business.

“The fact that we also have 17 practice areas included in the guide reinforces the breadth of our expertise at Aaron & Partners.

“Because Legal 500 relies heavily on customer feedback, it is very nice to have read so many positive testimonials about the service we provide and the results we have delivered, which is a testament to our staff and their engagement in their respective areas of law. “

Aaron & Partners’ Corporate and Commercial team maintained Level 1 status and were commended for their expertise in commercial and corporate transactions, acquisitions and commercial sales agreements. The team was also recognized for its “flexible and united” approach.

The dispute resolution team also maintained Level 1 status for its commercial disputes representing high net worth individuals, shareholders and corporate clients in complex disputes, such as shareholder disputes, transactional claims, restrictive covenants and litigation related to projects.

Another Tier 1 ranking was achieved by the Agriculture and Estates team for their work with clients, including farm estates and family farm businesses.

The Commercial Real Estate team has been listed as a Level 2 Specialist with strong and established client relationships, particularly in the Food, Retail and Utilities industries.

The Family team was also ranked at the same level as Neil Hobden, a family law partner in the Shrewsbury office of Aaron & Partners, rated as “extremely knowledgeable and helpful”. Another partner, Lorraine Saunders, received praise for showing “empathy and support at all times in her professional capacity.”

Clive Pointon, Head of Wills, Trusts & Tax, was praised for her “ability to communicate effectively with clients of different knowledge and experience”, while partner Lynda Richards of the Shrewsbury office was called “surpassing customer expectations “. Vlad Macdonald Munteanu of the same department was recognized for his work on contentious trusts and estates and for his “unerring ability to manage, effectively at the level of high-level partners, the most complex, heavy and rushed litigation. “.

Ben Mason, who operates in Shropshire and the West Midlands for the employment team, was praised for his professionalism and for giving clients ‘the feeling of always being in good hands’. Claire Brook from the same department was described as “absolutely exceptional” and “efficient, clear and extremely sympathetic”.

David Harries and Keith McKinney were praised for their work in the areas of energy, projects, finance and PFI. Harries has been described as a “formidable strategist with insight into issues and how to solve them which is so rarely found” while McKinney said “spares no effort and inspires complete confidence”.

Tim Culpin, Transport Partner, was underlined as being a “true specialist in road transport in the legal field” with a “very deep understanding of the issues from a legal and operator point of view”.

Nick Clarke, Mark Davies, Chris Mitchell and Jan Chillery were also highlighted in the Corporate Insolvency & Turnaround category, with Chillery recognized for her pleasant demeanor and “acting as a superb guide through a myriad of complicated laws”.

Aaron & Partner’s corporate finance associate, Hugh Strickland, also based in Shrewsbury, heads the company’s banking and finance department and has been described as “Excellent”.
