£39,682 – £42,777 per year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified solicitor with experience and/or an interest in developing expertise in public sector judicial work to join the dynamic legal services team at Dumfries and Galloway Council.

We are looking to recruit a lawyer who will work within the in-house legal services team, primarily in our forensic team in the areas of social work, education, anti-social behaviour, debt collection, data protection , employment and freedom of information, as well as general advice on local government law. The work that our court lawyers undertake is very varied, often challenging and rewarding. We would love to hear from anyone with enthusiasm and experience in these or other statutory advisory areas or with a keen interest in developing such expertise in local government.

You will be admitted as a solicitor by the Law Society of Scotland, hold an unrestricted certificate of practice and have post-qualifying experience.

Applications will be considered from all trainee lawyers who plan to complete their training, qualify and obtain their certificates of practice by February 28, 2023.
